On Thursday, September 19th, 2024, Gerocare and the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) formalized a partnership aimed at enhancing geriatric social care across Nigeria. The MoU, signed at the NSCC conference room in Abuja, aligns with the NSCC Domiciliary Care Agency model and introduces the NSCC-Gerocare Outreach model, rural health care and Home hospital initiatives. The initiatives seek to significantly improve access to quality care for older persons across the country.
As part of this partnership, Gerocare will connect the Domiciliary Care Agencies with its network of doctors, who will collaborate with trained and certified caregivers to form interdisciplinary teams for the older persons. This approach ensures a comprehensive care model that leverages both medical expertise and social support.
Dr. Emem Omokaro, Director General of NSCC, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration is a key step toward expanding the reach of our domiciliary care services and bringing much-needed care to older persons across Nigeria. We are committed to ensuring that this partnership provides the framework necessary for a sustainable, community-centered approach to elderly care.”
